Sailor Moon Cookies!

My sister and I have been huge fans of Sailor Moon since we were little. I remember waking up early before school just so I could watch it. So imagine our excitement when they announced the remake- Sailor Moon Crystal! The remake was scheduled to premier last summer but was delayed until this year. My sister and I decided we were definitely going to wake up at 6:30am to watch the live streaming of the first episode. What goes better than early morning cartoons? Cookies!

We decided to make up some plainer shortbread-type cookies to ice and decorate for the premier. You'll have to excuse the darkness in some of these photos. The cookie making session took longer than expected and I lost the daylight.

Here they all are! We ended up decided to do the scout's symbols, Sailor Moon's locket, and "Sailor Moon" written in katakana (as per the show's title). Not too bad for my first foray into cookie decorating if I do say so myself! I totally loved the process and want to try a different theme sometime in the future. Neptune and Uranus's cookies didn't make it til morning- we just had to sample them. For science.

As you can see, I decided to eat the Jupiter themed cookie the morning of the premier. Definitely too much sugar for 6:30 in the morning, but hey, you gotta live a little.

Has anyone else been checking out Sailor Moon Crystal?

  1. I started to watch it, but I am not sure how much longer I will. I really like the original animations and I love the goofiness of the original cartoon. My co-blogger and I wrote a review on the first episode and future ones coming up. What have you thought about the new super serious and flowery Sailor Moon?
